Let It Snow?

No doubt every single time that you have turned on your T.V over the past week or so, there has been an abundance of information about the snow. Usually, with the word “chaos” attached to it.

The West Midlands has seen the closure of some 500 schools and thousands of people unable to turn up for work due to the snow. Not to mention the added crises of the fact there is a short fall of the amount of salt and grit needed for the roads.

At this Driving School we have had to cancel some lessons because of the nature of the weather. The truth is, it is better to defer lessons then take a risk on icy roads.

If you really need to drive then you must take care. Carry a proper ice scraper, some de-icer and some additional clothes, should you break down.

For a safer alternative, if you must travel, public transport may be a better option. If all this fails, then just remember it will be over soon, which the news reporters never mention!

Lets Get Green

Whilst recently thinking about a new car, I was interested what environmentally friendly cars were on the market.

We all know what horrific effects out current engines have on the environment. Yet, twenty-first century life means that, for many of us, we feel we could never live without our cars. So what “green” cars are on offer this year?

Whatgreencar.com provides the ten best investments for green cars that will be available in 2009. My personal favourite been the Honda CR-Z hybrid, though it wont hit the market until December 2009.

Nevertheless, the site teaches us what efforts are been made to help encourage greener driving. Honda appears to be making the most drastic movements in order to achieve environmentally friendly engines.

So when looking for your next car, give “greener” cars a look at, there are some real beauties (and some monsters) which may take your fancy!

Speed Camera Challenge

As many of you, with speeding fines and lost penalty points will know, the case of Aitken Brotherston is creating might interest in the motoring world.

The 61 year old who was clocked by speed camera, doing 52mph on a 40mph road is claiming that the workings of the device was not properly examined by Parliament. If won, the case could mean that thousands of fines would be retracted.

However, at Wolverhampton Driving School, we urge people to remember the speed limits. Whether Brotherston gets away with his fine or not, the fact still remains that you must stick to speed limits.

So, when you are on your next driving lesson do not expect your instructor to give you leeway when you are not sticking to the speed limits.

Preparing For Your Driving Test

Preparing for your driving test, can, for most of us can be a nerve racking time. A good driving instructor will know when you are ready for your exam.

It is beneficial if you combine your professional training with some private practice. Make sure that the person you take extra lessons with has insurance and has passed their driving test for at least three years.

At this driving school we find that many people who fail, often fail because of letting a little problem develop into a huge issue. If you do make a mistake such as stalling the car, try and forget about it and concentrate on the rest of your test.

An excellent way to see if you are ready is to have a mock driving test with your driving instructor. They will act as the driving examiner. If afterwards, they tell you are ready then it is probably good idea to take your test.
